Two drawers on the front, rounded uprights carved in strips, as are the sides. Tapered legs. Shaped top slab in marble, W. 155.5 - D. 77 - H. 95 cm, Claudio Fornasieri Antiquario, Turin, Lacquered furniture in Piedmont enjoyed great popularity in the 18th century, strongly influenced by the French. The Piedmontese furniture makers interpreted the French Neoclassicism from which they drew their inspiration in a measured and subdued manner, proposing furniture with elegant lines and sober colours, with backgrounds that were often cream or light blue., In the pair of chests of drawers presented here we can recognise some characteristics of the Turin air, such as the delicate harmony of the ivory colour with the light blue, the simple lines and the rounded corners.
