They bear inscriptions: Rome 1850, 1857, 1858, 1859.This important allegorical group depicts four young women, each a metaphor for a continent; Africa is depicted as a young girl wearing a short dress next to a stone with Egyptian inscriptions on which a lion skin is lying while she keeps a foot on the back of a crocodile, Asia dressed in a Turkish dress with puffed trousers holds in one hand a half-open chest from which spice leaves come out, America with a feathered headdress adorned with a necklace and bracelet holds a cornucopia and at her feet sacks and packages, symbols of prosperity and trade; finally, Europe with the head encircled by a crown in the act of holding a scepter leaning against a rostral column that bears on its top a globe, symbols of supremacy on the seas and in the discovery of new lands, heights 153 cm, 155 cm, 150 cm and 151 cm, Paris, antiquarian market
