As far back as I can remember, I remember Paulette Bacon as one of the initiators in 1961 of "la jeune parque", an art gallery in Lyon supported by the art critic René Deroudille. There, around Paulette Bacon, one could meet Jim Leon, Jean Revol, Maxime Descombin, Henri Ughetto, or Jean-Michel Hardy and perhaps even Paulette and Josef Ciesla, René Münch and Régis Bernard in their infancy... Classified in the family of the "nuagistes", close to Jean Janoir, all her life she developed this coloured undulating gesture, well named - between shadow and evanescent light - with a certain happiness, so much so that she is classified in the family of the great priest of the genre, (admired by Paul Gauzit), I want to speak about Frederic Benrath (1930-2007)... The work we are presenting is masterful, in the sense that it is rare and very representative of this beautiful abstract painter from Lyon whom we are not determined to forget... BG
