Estimate :
5 000 - 8 000 EUR

Barolomeo Passerotti FRIAR ANTONIO FROM MONTECICCARDO oil on canvas, cm 90,5x76 inscribed: "F. ANTONIUS A MONTE SICARDO.SA". on the back: scrolls made in the 1680s The work is accompanied by the expertise of Professor Daniele Benati. The inscription at the top of the work makes it possible to identify the person depicted. He is Friar Antonio da Monteciccardo, in the present province of Pesaro-Urbino, a Capuchin who died in Macerata in 1550 and of whom we have news in the Flores Seraphici, a compendium of the lives of the most illustrious Capuchin Friars Minor of the time. Of the composition, as pointed out by Professor Benati, there is another smaller version that came with the correct attribution to Passerotti from the Zambeccari collection to the Pinacoteca Nazionale in Bologna.
