Pierre CHAPO (1927-1987) Table T40A in elm wood. The oval top has an extension and rests on four curved legs. Circa 1970. H.: 72,5 cm - W.: 157 cm - D.: 110 cm. Wear, stains and slightly oiled wood, extension system blocked. Pierre Chapo is a French furniture designer who is characterized by a production between art, design and craft where wood is the dominant element. Inspired by classical Greek and Roman culture, the Bauhaus and modern architects such as Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright or Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Chapo manages to follow in the footsteps of the precursors of modern furniture while at the same time setting himself apart. The T40A table is made of solid elm, Pierre Chapo's favourite wood, which he works in its simple and raw essence. It expresses the will of its creator to mix architecture and geometry to create objects which are functional, aesthetic and homogeneous thanks to a great sense of proportions and line.
