SIMONE LUCAS (Germany, 1973). "Junge virm Vorhang", 2006. Oil on canvas. Presents on the back etoiqueta of the Galeria Pilar Parra & Romero (Madrid). Signed and dated on the back. Measurements: 220 x 200 cm. Simone Lucas studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1995 to 2002. Her works are included in numerous collections in Germany and abroad. She is represented by Rupert Pfab Gallery, Düsseldorf, Germany.Simone Lucas creates a mystical and mysterious world of images, which evokes memories and associations, but has little in common with the world of reality. The protagonists are often young women and children on the verge of adulthood. They accompany us through timeless and placeless scenarios, without looking at or acknowledging the viewer. They belong to their own cosmos, within which they act silently but naturally. We find them in places reminiscent of classrooms or living spaces, or playing in the street. They are often absorbed in their own thoughts and feelings or scribble words and drawings on blackboards, on the floor or in notebooks. However, we are by no means dealing here with naive and childish ideas, but with complex cosmological deliberations, documented in solar systems and constellations. The object of their quest is nothing less than the origins of the universe.
