Le Cathalogue des villes et cités assises es trois Gaulles, avec ung traicté des fleuves et fontaines, illustré de nouvelles figures. Paris, Antoine Bonnemère for Guillaume Le Bret, 1540, small in-8, half tan basane with small vellum corners, smooth spine decorated with gilt roulettes, spotted edges (Binding circa 1800). New edition of the Antiques érections des Gaules, a curious treatise by the printer-librarian Gilles Corrozet (1510-1568) which was published several times under different titles and with successive increases. The oldest known edition came off the presses of its author in 1531. The present edition, printed in round letters, is decorated with 36 woodcuts in the text, mostly city views, executed in a naïve and popular style and sometimes repeated. It is followed by two opuscules on rivers and fountains (ff. 50-57) and on the holy places of Gaul (ff. 58-68); the first is by Symphorien Champier, the second by his son Claude. The issue of Guillaume Le Bret is rare; bibliographers cite only that of the printer Antoine Bonnemère. Circular stamp with initials BR and signature scratched on the title. Missing the last blank page. Mottling and soiling, f. 68 stained, headbands faded, spines rubbed. Moreau, V, n°1690 (Bonnemère) - Brunet, II, 304 (Bonnemère).
