ITALY - "La Magnifica Citta di BRESCIA". 1599. Rare and Exceptional etched and edited map of the city of Brescia by Donato Rascicotti (1572-1618). laid paper. Descriptive text on the right; places of interest (in the form of a legend) arranged on nine columns at the foot; representation of the Loggia (lower left) and of the monumental Fontana della Pallata (lower right). Handwritten annotation in lower margin "in the Estate of Venice". Small margins. Very rare. This is one of the earliest printed perspective plans showing an urban quadrilateral city guarded and protected by the castle to the northeast. 42 x 52.5 cm. Condition A (formerly pasted in full, trace of old vertical fold on the left, very rare foxing on the edges, small tear on the edge of the subject in the upper right).
