Prehistoric cave paintings are an important source of inspiration for Georges Saulterre. The sculpture affects the silhouette of a bison which would have been detached from one of them. Made of terracotta, an ancient material if ever there was one, the sculpture is covered with a flocking that links it to a more contemporary art. Cobalt blue dematerializes the bison, abstracting it from its time and its earthly condition, and offering it to the cosmos. It thus becomes like a constellation.
