The image shows a detached piece from a datacenter - an eminently concrete machine, indispensable to the existence of the virtual world - on which images evolve, themselves generated by a program. The composition can be likened to the figure of speech known as synecdoche, the part for the whole: an assembly of a few pieces of scrap metal, to tell of the infinite possibilities allowed by the virtual. On the white background, the material presence of the object tends to disappear under the coloured flows, like so many worlds in the making, very close to unfolding.
