Asti città After 1615 Etching on paper pasted on cardboard.
Wormholes and restored tears. 16.5 x 24.4 in. Very rare bird's eye view of the siege of Asti during the war of succession of the Monferato with river Tanaro along the upper margin, the campings of the troops, wind rose and two strapwork cartouches. The battle saw the Spanish forces commanded by the Governor of Milan and the troops of Carlo Emanuele I of Savoy opposed. The anonymous engraving is dedicated to the city of Lucca, at the time second largest independent Italian city state, which participated in the siege together with the Spaniards.
