Attached are two authentication manuscripts in pen: "fragment of the coffin of the Emperor Napoleon, offered to Monsieur Manuel, member of the Chamber of Deputies, by H.R.H. Monseigneur le Prince de Joinville," signed by Captain Hernoux and "piece of the coffin of the Emperor offered to Monsieur Manuel by the Prince de Joinville."
Jacques André Manuel (1791 Nevers - 1857 Nevers) was a member of the Chamber of Deputies, representing the Nièvre between 1838 and 1851.
