Lot of targettes including: A monogrammed iron targette, engraved and chased from the XVIIth century. The plate in the form of shuttle finished top and bottom by two broad fleurons engraved foliage. The oval part is pierced with two monograms showing the letters MVT intermingled. Strong grooved stirrups and important button in flattened sphere surmounted by a nipple. French work of the XVIIth with unidentified monogram (accident, calamine and wear on the surface of the plate). Height: 16,5 cm - Width: 5,2 cm Reference: A similar model in the collection Le SECQ des TOURNELLES (Metmann n° 622). A repoussé iron targette, decorated with two monograms, Renaissance period. The lock plate embossed with intermingled monograms, both flanked by scrolls and surmounted by a palmette. The bolt is missing. Iron and iron plate, forged, embossed and pierced. France, end of the 16th century. Height: 15,9 cm - Width: 5,5 cm Reference: An identical model Metmann n° 679. Iron bolt embossed with the figure of Diane de Poitiers from the Renaissance period. The lock is embossed with leather drawing a strong H surmounted at both ends of a crescent in a curved frame decorated with a dotted line. The knob is a gadrooned cone topped by a small ornament. The stirrups of the bolt are truncated pyramid shaped. The H and the crescents can be applied indifferently to Henri II as to Diane de Poitiers. Seems to come from the Château d'Anet, home of the Grand Sénéchale, where the whole decoration mixes her own figures with those of her royal lover. Height: 13,1 cm - Length: 6,9 cm Reference: For an almost identical model CRMH: Les targettes, volume 1, pl 23. Two targettes of similar decoration with the arms of Montmorency, from the Renaissance period. One with a plate, scalloped, in the shape of a shield is embossed with a large moulded H finished with two semi-circles. The two semi-circles show the Montmorency alerion under a frieze of pearls and olives. The stirrups are chiseled with a frieze of chevrons. The cone-shaped knob is decorated with gadroons. Traces of tinning on the reverse. Embossed and chased wrought iron. Circa 1550. Height: 13,2 cm - Width: 6,6 cm The other one with a plate, with symmetrical decoration, is embossed in its middle with an H made of three small parallel mouldings drawing the contours of this letter. On either side of the H, the plate is finished with a semicircle framed by alternating olives and pearls, in the centre of which is embossed an alerion. The picolets are chiselled with a frieze of chevrons. The conical knob is chiselled with a corolla in high relief surmounted by a small baluster. The plate is broken in two parts at the height of the bolt, but without missing the decoration. Very elegant work of iron embossed and chiselled with the arms of Anne de Montmorency. Width: 7 cm - Height: 26 cm Reference: Metmann, Le métal, n° 388 and 404.
