Beautiful Regency period loop door knocker in cast iron. In the shape of a gibecière buckle. The sides of the buckle, chiseled in light relief of foliage, close in the center on a grotesque mask chiseled in the round and continue in the upper part by two volutes flaring outwards. They are carved with foliage and griffon heads framing a small mask topped by a large foliage mantling and finished with an acanthus leaves base.
Very elegant finely chiseled work from the end of the Louis XIV or the beginning of the Regency period, France.
