EASTERN IRAN, NICHAPOUR, 10th CENTURY
A truncated cone-shaped bowl on a flat base, made of clay ceramic with incised decoration of crosses and stylized petals, enhanced by yellow, green and brown glaze drips with a jaspered effect, forming lines and dots. Traces of a tripod pernet in the center.

This bowl belongs to the colour-splashed ware group identified by Wilkinson during the excavations at Nishapur (Charles K. Wilkinson, Nishapur. Pottery of the Early Islamic Period, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1973, chapter 2, pp.54-89).
