Rectangular box in 18-carat gold with chased scrolls and acanthus leaves. The lid is decorated with the imperial crown surmounted by a crescent and set with 13 small diamonds, and the base with a circular medallion with the initial "H", 18 carat gold hallmark.

H.H.I. Ottoman Princess Hanzade Sultan (1923-1998), daughter of Sehzade Ömer Faruk, was born in Istanbul at the Dolmabahçe Palace one month before the fall of the Ottoman Empire. She was doubly a sultan's granddaughter as her maternal grandfather was Sultan Mehmed VI (1918-22) and her paternal grandfather was the last Ottoman Sultan Abdulmecid II (r. 1922-24). Hanzade Sultan grew up in Paris, got married in Cairo in 1940 and died in Paris in 1998.
