Set of one hundred and seven albums of ribbon samples, Manufacture Staron, Saint-Etienne, 1905-1960, ribbons, braids and plain, shaped and printed scarves, mainly silk and artificial silk. Numbered from 20,000 to 41,767 in a discontinuous sequence between 1905 and 1930, more than 9,600 references illustrate the production of the factory and the evolution of fashion, from the beautiful classical compositions of flowers in natural form for velvet scarves, printed on warp or brocaded satin around 1910, to the geometric and abstract designs of the Art Deco movement in matte weave, metallic thread and gold lurex. Each sample is accompanied by a pattern number, a description of the quantities, qualities and costs of the yarns and other supplies used and the price of the work. Rich of this commercial information methodically recorded, this set comes to complete the archives of the Staron factory entered in the Museum of Art and Industry of Saint Etienne and presented to the public in 2007 on the occasion of the exhibition Esprit Staron, ribbons silks and high fashion. This exhibition was the subject of a well-illustrated catalogue in which several samples of ribbons are reproduced, most of which we also find in our albums. Approximately 9600 samples or models from 5 x 2 cm to 20 x 15 cm, (some missing, accidents on half of the bindings), 27,5 x 22,5 cm.
