A black marble clock with a sarcophagus-shaped body, central projection, and ormolu or patinated bronze ornaments decorated with friezes of foliage, palmettes, lions' heads and a lamp base with a woman's mascaron and scrolls, resting on four clawed feet. Figure of a seated sylph or Hebe, holding a cup and a flask. Proof in brown patinated bronze or gilt, signed H. DUMAIGE on the side. Ring-shaped dial, hour markers with gilded Roman numerals, centre decorated with foliated bases. Mechanical movement with manual winding. Brocade suspension. 57 x 43 x 20 cm. - Height of the sculpture: 33 cm. Wear to the gilding, oxidation, scratches, missing, including a ring and a palmette; chips to the marble; sculpture to be refixed. Henry Étienne DUMAIGE (1830-1888), sculptor.
