It was produced in 4 different series but for a good 28 years and managed to win the hearts of enthusiasts. In order to choose the name, Alfa Romeo decided to hold a public competition, with a model of the new car as a prize. The name Duetto won, but the appellation was only used for the first 190 examples, due to homonymy with a snack of the time that obtained exclusive use of the name. Nevertheless, the name remained so ingrained in the common language, that all subsequent versions were identified as Duetto. The spider 1300 Junior was produced from 1968 to 1969 for only 2680 units. The bodywork in modern style, designed by Pininfarina, was the last project followed by Pininfarina himself. The line of the car, with its rounded front and tail, joined by convex sides, recalls the shape of a cuttlefish bone, hence the name that makes it recognizable all over the world. The same engine as the GT 1300 Junior, with five-speed transmission and four disc brakes. The magnificent example offered by us in the auction was registered for the first time in 1969, about 10 years ago the car was partly restored, the body has undergone a veiling of its original red alfa color. The engine has been completely overhauled in all its mechanical and electrical components, and it sings like it just left the factory. The black skai interior is absolutely original and preserved in every aspect, the capote was completely redone about two years ago faithfully respecting all the dictates of the factory. This car is part of a beautiful collection of Alfa Romeos belonging to an Italian gentleman who over the years has taken excellent care of all aspects of the preservation of his cars. The car is equipped with its original plates (in 1970 it changed province from Lecce to Rome) and all its original documentation and has Riar certification. The car will be auctioned at Milano AutoClassica 2021 in extraordinary conditions.
