It was designed by Ercole Spada, designer of the Milanese coachbuilder Zagato, in collaboration with the Alfa Romeo car manufacturer. They used the mechanics and the engine of the Giulia as a starting point. It was based on the floorpan of the spider model designed by Pininfarina. It was equipped with a 1300 engine with 4 cylinders in line and two Weber double-body carburettors. It had rear-wheel drive and a 5-speed manual gearbox that allowed it to reach 175 km/h. To optimize aerodynamics, the front lights were covered by a sheet of Plexiglas. A two-seater with a comfortable roominess and a spacious trunk, ideal for long trips. Only 1108 examples were produced. This magnificent car was registered for the first time in Italy in 1972, and since then has always kept the same license plate. To date there are only three owners in about 50 years of life. The car has been fully restored about 15 years ago, today is presented in a beautiful Champagne metallic color (AR115), black sky interior original and preserved (easily seen from the signs of wear visible on the side of the driver), inside there is also the Bakelite steering wheel also original and preserved. The engine has been completely overhauled in both electrical and mechanical components and now sounds like a violin. The car is equipped with its original license plates (1972), all its original documentation (owner's manuals, etc. ...) and has been certified at the ASI register and by the Centro Documentale Alfa Romeo. The car will be auctioned at Milano AutoClassica 2021 in incredible conditions. In 1969 the Junior Zagato, a small, modern and sporty coupé, was presented at the Turin motor show.
