Launched on the market in the spring of 1972, the 1000 immediately won over the most sporty motorcyclists thanks to its 80 horsepower. Although its gestation was troubled, the 1000 turned out to be 5kg lighter and narrower than the fearsome Honda CB750 Four. Despite its spartan finish the 1000 was an instant success and became one of Laverda's most popular motorcycles of the 70s. The 1200 version was conceived later, based on the 1000, with the intention of producing a motorcycle with a less exasperated engine and more suitable for touring. Requested by the Slater brothers, the 1200 completed the three-cylinder family with the Mirage, which became the top model in the range. This bike was produced for the British market and sold there. Several years ago it was imported to Italy to become part of a large collection. It will be auctioned at Milano AutoClassica 2021 in excellent condition. Put on the market in the Spring of 1972, the 1000cc Laverda 3 cylinders was able to conquer immediately the most sporting motorcyclists thanks to its 80 hp. Despite having had a difficult birth, the 1000 was 5 kilos lighter and narrower than the feared Honda CB750 Four. Despite the rather spartan trim, the 1000 had a good success, becoming one of the most loved Laverdas of the 70ies and 80ies. The subsequent 1200 version was conceived on the basis of the 1000 with the aim of producing a motorbike with a lesser stressed engine and more suitable for touring. Requested by the Slater brothers, the 1200 completed the 3 cylinder offering with the Mirage, which posed itself as the range topping model.
