ASKOS DAUNIUS Form V, type 17, De Juliis 1977 DATING: Subgeometric Daunian III, IV cent. b.C. C. MATERIAL AND TECHNIQUE: depurated clay chamois, ivory mottling; brown paint; hand modelled. Askos with slightly flared rim indistinct from the cylindrical neck, elongated globular body, with pointed rear end, flat bottom; stick handle set longitudinally on the back, decorated with horizontal bands and geometric motifs. PRODUCTION: Daunia pottery STATE OF CONSERVATION: spout partially reassembled from fragments, encrusted. DIMENSIONS: h. cm 18; length cm 18 ORIGIN: private collection, Bari CFR.: E. M.
