OINOCHOE IN THE STYLE OF GNATHIA
DATE: IV-III sec. a.. C.
MATERIAL AND TECHNIQUE: pinkish figulina clay, chamois mottling, shiny black paint, white, yellow and purple overpainting; modelled by fast lathe.
Oinochoe with trilobate mouth, pronounced by two small apicatures, truncated cone neck with concave profile indistinct from the shoulder, tapered ovoid body, molded echinus foot, high sinuous stick-like handle, set from the rim to the shoulder
DECORATION: entirely painted with the exception of the lower part; on the neck a band with continuous meander and horizontal plant volutes, on the belly a wide band with ivy leaves and corymbs, in the centre a swan facing right.
PRODUCTION: apulian ceramics in the style of Gnathia.
STATE OF CONSERVATION: intact
