Lined slipcase. First edition illustrated with 15 (and not 14 as announced) t.p. on Chine appliqué with engraved captions, including 2 by Félicien Rops. All the etchings are here of a splendid edition and present all the remarks of the very first edition (qqes pale rous. scattered in margin). According to Paul Van der Perre's findings (Les premières éditions de la Légende d'Ulenspiegel de Charles de Coster, Bruxelles, 1935, pp. 12 et seq.), rare white cover with the date of 1868, title with the variant A, verso of the false-title with the address of Paris, 1st cover with the same date as the title and 2nd cover with the mark and the name of the Parisian printer A very attractive copy!
