Spine with 5 nerves decorated with gilt pearls, boxes decorated with gilt fillet and gilt decoration with central fleuron, gilt fillet and palmettes on head and tail. Triple gilt fillet on the boards. Fine gilt inner borders. Head and neck decorated with gilt fillet. T. gilt. Covers included. Both works are illustrated with a drawing by Georges Rochegrosse. Both in first edition on very fine paper. Each one carries on the false title a sending from the author to Monsieur (for the first one) and to Madame (for the second one) Bérardi. Léon Bérardi (1817-1897) was the director of the daily newspaper "L'Indépendance belge". Superb copy, nicely bound.
