EUGENE BABOULENE (1905-1994) "THE OLIVE TREES" AQUARELLE GOUACHE SBD 32X40 ET 48X56 - emblematic figure of the Provençal school, Eugène BABOULENE's first teachers were, from the age of 12 to 18, Edmond BARBARROUX and Laurent MATTIO, then Pierre LAURENT in Paris. Despite the encouragement of DERAIN, MARQUET, MoÏse KISLING and Othon FRIESZ, he did not get used to Parisian life. Back in Toulon, he devoted himself mainly to decoration. In 1946, his meetings with the great Catalan painters Antoni CLAVE and Antoni TAPIES were to be decisive. From then on, painting in a harmony of warm colours, many exhibitions will be dedicated to him in France as well as abroad (Malmoê, London, Geneva, New York, Berlin, Tokyo, Madrid)
