Manuel Bayeu was a member of a notable family of painters, including his brothers Francisco and Ramón. Most of his life and activity as a painter was spent in the service of the Carthusian order, as he was a monk at the Carthusian monasteries of Nuestra Señora de las Fuentes and Valldemosa. However, his greatest pictorial legacy is the frescoes in the Carthusian monastery of Nuestra Señora de las Fuentes in Sariñena. In this vast pictorial ensemble, the same stylistic features can be seen in this canvas of the Annunciation, in which the painter's peculiar style can be recognised: expressive, energetic and colourful, combining elements of the Baroque tradition, Rococo taste and some of the new Classicist contributions. . Oil on canvas..77,5 x 62 cm.
