Africa. Ibo statuette (Nigeria). Ibo" artistic representations are very old and exceptionally rich. The artist, by respecting the proportions of the human body and by going towards a simplification of the forms, gives an impression of balance and stability. This statuary was placed on altars, in sanctuaries and was only taken out on rare occasions. H. approx. 80cm. (Africa, African art, Civilization and ethnic groups)
