MICHELE DESTARAC (Yerres, France, 1943) "Outre mer, outre nuit", 2005 Oil on canvas. Signed and dated on the back. Measurements: 98 x 79 cm., 85,5 cm. (frame). A self-taught artist born in Yerres, Michele Destarac was only 20 years old when she showed her painting for the first time in 1964, as part of the fourth Biennale de Paris. The quality and anticipated maturity of her work attracted the attention of John Pollak, director of the prestigious Ariel gallery. He took him under contract in 1969 and offered him an unexpected opportunity for an artist of this age. He rubs shoulders with some of the most prominent international personalities of the art world: Karel Appel, Asger Jorn, Pierre Alechinsky, Jacques Doucet, Olivier Debré ... . Michele Destarac's works stand out in several public collections: Musée National d'Art Moderne / Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), Musée de la Ville de Vitry-sur-Marne, Carrefour Collection and Carrefour Collection (New York), Art Gallery and Technical University of Trondheim (Norway)... The artist is currently in France by the Ariel Gallery (Paris), the Tuiliers Gallery (Lyon) and the Galerie Le Domaine Perdu (Meyrals, Dordogne). Since 2006, her work is regularly shown in Spain by Italia Galeria based in Alicante.
