BOUCHAUD (Mathieu-Antoine). Of the tax of the twentieth on the successions and the tax on the goods at the Romans. Paris, De Bure père, 1766. In-8, XVI-482 p., [1] f. (privil), contemporary speckled tan calf, spine with 5 nerves, fawn calf title-piece, caissons decorated with small irons, gilt fillet on the edges, red edges (2 dull corners, cut on the corner of a guard, sporadic rust stains). First edition of this historical essay by M.-A. Bouchaud (1719-1804). A jurisconsult, he wrote articles on jurisprudence and canon law for the Encyclopédie, and taught law at the Collège royal and at the Ecole militaire. (INED, 685).
