"This text, with its revolutionary novelistic technique, has become the founding work of the "Nouveau Roman", after Émile Henriot used this expression, in derision, in his column in Le Monde on May 22, 1957" (Henri Vignes). In Angélique ou l'enchantement, Alain Robbe-Grillet cites La Jalousie as his "best-known novel, the most widely read today, the most studied throughout the world.
