Gratitude of the Austrian Estates Volunteers, sung on September 5, 1797, in the Landhaus hall after receiving the medals of honor, dedicated to the gentlemen of the Estates of the Archduchy of Austria under the Enns by the Freycorps and set to music. (Let us thank our emperor...). Vienna, J. Eder (1797). Qu.4°. 3 nn. p. with gest. title a. gest. music notes. RISM 991001544. - Very rare occasional composition on the occasion of the muster of volunteers of the University of Vienna on January 4, 1797 - RISM has only 3 copies in libraries (two in Vienna and one in the Bavarian State Library). - The composer and music publisher Ignaz Sauer (1759-1833), was choir director, organist and music school director at the k. k. Waisenhaus in Vienna from 1795. He joined Joseph Eder as a partner in 1796 (while retaining his function at the orphanage), but already in 1797 he applied for his own authority to deal in art and separated from Eder in 1798 (after an amicable division of the inventory and financial compensation). He quickly succeeded in establishing himself in the Viennese art trade and in 1801 he tried his hand at lithography for the first time in Austria. Sauer also became known for a large 96-sheet sketchbook of Beethoven autographs (Sauer Sketchbook). Sauer was also appraiser of Beethoven's musical estate. - Title page somewhat stained a. dusty, otherwise very well preserved.
