His religious controversial writings always stand on the ground of the ancient church. - "...Of his writings 13 have been preserved, five dealing in German with the doctrine of the sacrifice of the Mass. Two Latin treatises are in defense of the priesthood, one German treatise deals with the doctrine of the Church, the meaning of the Fathers of the Church, and the Holy Scriptures. Another work discusses the question whether faith alone makes blessed. Together with Konrad Wimpina and others he refuted the Schwabach Articles. In his writing "Vormeldunge der Unwarheit luterische Clage" (1532) he recalls that the Lutherans persecuted and killed the Anabaptists and did not allow their appeal to conscience and the Gospel. To him the Lutherans were heretics and therefore not to be tolerated by the emperor; they had robbed the houses of worship in Saxony and elsewhere, desecrated chalices and monstrances. They enacted tyrannical laws to abolish the Mass, closed the churches, forbade Catholic sermons, singing and ringing. Reformation meant to him riot and disorder" (ADB). - In the ob.
