[CURIOSA] - HARAUCOURT (Edmond). The Legend of the Sexes. Hysterical poems. 1882. copy printed in Brussels for the author, in Paris : Au clos Bruneau, 1921 . - In-8, 255 x 165 : frontispiece, (1 blank f.), 124 pp, (1 f.), printed cover. Paperback, filled cover. Dutel 1839*. Beautiful edition printed at 303 copies, illustrated with a free frontispiece after an engraving by Félicien ROPS. One of 300 on Arches laid paper (n° 41). UNIQUE COPY, enriched with 25 original watercolours in colours from the period, unsigned, of very fine quality, appearing in the margins or on the full page and representing humorous and often erotic subjects. The copy is also enriched by an original portrait of Haraucourt in Indian ink, dated 1930 and signed by the cartoonist and caricaturist Georges Villa (1883-1965), one of the figures of Montmartre during the Roaring Twenties, as well as an etching of the author by F. Desmoulin, on japon paper, and a suite of 6 of the 13 free figures by André Collot for the 1935 edition of Séduction, printed in black on Arches vellum with remarks. A very well preserved copy, despite some soiling to the cover. Sometimes attached to this edition are 12 free etchings by Martin Van Maele, which are not included here.
