A twelve piece inlay with text and handcoloured images on paper commemorating the battles of 1813. With inscription: Gerechtigkeit, Weisheit und Einigkeit Beglücken D. Menschheit. Diam. 5,1 cm. Comp. Collection Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, object number: NG-NM-12101 (for a similar piece). Noot: The Rheinbund was a group of German states that, after the Russian-Austrian defeat at Austerlitz were proclaimed a vassal state by the French Empire under the reign of Napoleon I. After a series of battles the French were conquered on 10 October 1813 at Leipzig. This resulted in the independency of the German States and the end of the Rheinbund. Estimate: € 200 - € 300.
