RIDING SWORD
In the style of the 2nd half of the 16th century, work from the 2nd half of the 19th century.
Iron hilt, spherical pommel, rivet head. Ribbed grip wrapped with fine iron wire. Double-edged blade (L 107.3 cm), ricasso, signed "JUANEZ URIZIA" (for "Juan Ruiz, Toledo").

The Carl von Schwerzenbach Collection and the H.C.M. Dreger Collection contained swords with the same attractive, exquisitely-crafted chain hilts, all from the same workshop and classified as being original.
