PULVERIN / FLACON
In the Italian Renaissance style from the third quarter of the 16th century, Historicism, 19th century.
Silver-plated openwork cast brass, in the shape of a flacon, with a glass core. The front and rear are opulently decorated, the center features a crown with the Medici coat-of-arms on top and the Alliance coat-of-arms Medici-Austria. Lateral handles with carrying rings for the short chain.
L 10.5 cm
The pulverin-shaped flacon was possibly used as a container for sprinkling sand or perfume. The coats-of-arms commemorate the 1565 marriage of Francesco I de Medici to Archduchess Joanna of Austria. A beautiful example of a Historicism object.
