This pair of animal figurines presents a curée scene where the dog at the stops faces a wild boar cornered in its last entrenchments.
This hunting theme, developed by the Manufacture of Mennecy-Villeroy, was also enamelled with white as attested by another group kept at the Musée de Sèvres (fig. 1). Painted au naturel, ours is strikingly realistic.
