READING TABLE France, Louis XVI period
Oak frame ; ribboned satin ; amaranth ; lemon tree ; gilded bronzes ; brass
H. 75 cm, W. 100 cm, D. 52 cm
Elegant and light, our oblong table with rounded corners has a folding reading light. It is supported by four tapered, fluted and filleted legs, fitted with castors with hooves. The top is designed with a circle of satin veneer with amaranth ribbon underlined by lemon tree fillets. A large border marks the contours of the top surrounded by a gilded brass moulding. Of very classical composition, such a piece of furniture embodies the neoclassicism of the Louis XVI style.
