(Amsterdam, 1635 - 1710)
Coastal view with vessel
Oil on canvas, 74X130 cm
This work is attributed to the Dutch artist Abraham Storck, a true specialist in seascapes with remarkable topographical accuracy, but also a creator of imaginative port views made with a sincere Mediterranean sensibility. These works reflect the maritime and commercial culture of the Dutch provinces, but also the artist's familiarity with Italian pictorial culture and it is assumed that he stayed in our peninsula like many of his colleagues. Most of Abraham Storck's fantastic harbour scenes were painted between 1670 and 1795 and based on the clothing of the figures it is assumed that our work can be dated around 1690.
