(Venice, 1712 - 1793)
Vaso fiorito
Oil on canvas, 47X62.5 cm
Giuseppe Fiocco was the first to propose a reconstruction of a Guardi painter of flowers (cf. G. Fiocco, Francesco Guardi pittore di fiori, in Arte Veneta, 1950) but the lack of certain documents has led modern critics to categorise this type of work as 'Pseudo Guardi', identifying different painters and a manner that continued throughout the 19th century, conveying the idea of the Venetian taste of the time.
