Richard Riemerschmid 1868 Munich - 1957 ibid Visual designer, architect, co-founder of the reform style. Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1888-90. In 1900/01 he designed the Munich Schauspielhaus. In 1903-05 he led the master class for arts and crafts at the Bavarian Trade Museum in Nuremberg. 1907-13 overall planning of the development of the first German garden city Dresden-Hellerau, 1909-13 garden city Nuremberg. In 1907 he was one of the founders of the Deutscher Werkbund, 1921-26 its chairman. 1913-24 director of the Munich School of Arts and Crafts, appointed privy councillor. 1926-31 director of the Cologne Werkschulen.
