Provenance: Collection Prof. Dr. Fritz G. Altmann, Zittau and Hanover. Minimally soiled. At the corners with small holes from the working process. Within the picture inconspicuous tiny paint chipping mi.r. Dimensions: 34 x 25,3 cm. Franz Gustav Hochmann 1861 Dresden - 1935 ibid Hochmann first studied at the art school in Weimar under A. Brendel. Afterwards he returned to Dresden and continued his studies at the academy of arts there under F. Preller the Younger. After a short trip to Italy in 1884/85 he settled in Karlsruhe to study under H. Baisch. Hochmann's oeuvre includes landscape paintings as well as animal genres, which were shown from 1880-1915 at the Dresden Kunstverein and art exhibitions and at the Berlin Academy and Great Art Exhibition, and from 1888-1911 at the Munich Glaspalast.
