Provenance: From the artist's estate.
Partly with small holes at the corners and in the margins from the work process. a) with small tear at the lower margin (ca. 1,3 cm) as well as slightly creased, soiled and with inconspicuous abrasion on the lower margin. b) with inconspicuous craquelure.

Marie Hechel
1870 - 1945 Berlin
Daughter of a haulage contractor and builder. Studied at the academy of arts in Berlin, pupil of Walter Leistikow. In the early 20th century stays in Sylt and Worpswede. Studio at Klosterstraße 75, Berlin (a "Klosterstraße studio community" existed from 1933-1944). The artist's father set up another studio for her in Berlin's Chaussee-Strasse, where she died and lost a large part of her work to the bombing.
