Unstretched, the margins with fold and small nail holes. Partially with early shrinkage craquelure. Few small inconspicuous missing parts of the painting layer in the lower half of the picture.

1854 Altona - 1942 Dresden
1871-74 Attended the academy of arts in Dresden, 1876 changed to the academy of arts in Berlin. From 1879 again in Dresden. 1884 he became a member of the painters' circle "Goppelner Gruppe" and took part in the Dresden Secession exhibitions. He earned his living with illustrations, which made him one of the most popular illustrators at the end of the 19th century. Around 1900 he increasingly turned to painting. Friendship and collaboration with Carl Bantzer.
