The Palais im Großen Garten is the earliest representative baroque building in Saxony. It was built from 1678 to 1693 and is one of the most important buildings in Dresden in terms of art and cultural history. This painting shows the building from the northwest, coming from the Hauptallee.

Painting layer with tiny retouchings o.m. in the area of the sky as well as lower right in the area of the vegetation (c. 2.5 x 1.3 cm). Partial rubbing in the marginal areas, at the upper right margin a tiny missing part. U. Mi. two inconspicuous vertical scratch or pressure marks (ca. 5,5 cm).

German architectural painter and university teacher at the Technical University Dresden. 1894-96 Attended the art academies in Leipzig and 1896-99 Dresden as a pupil of Friedrich Preller the Younger and Gotthardt Kuehl. Study trips to Thuringia, Franconia, Austria and Italy. 1902 founds the artists' group "Die Elbier", later the Dresden Secession. From 1908 private lecturer for architectural painting at the Technical University Dresden, from 1921 associate professor and 1925-45 full professor. 1945 Loss of the studio and most of his work.
