Otto Altenkirch "White Horse at the Great Pond in Deutschbaselitz". 1904. Otto Altenkirch1875 Ziesar - 1945 Siebenlehn Oil on canvas. Signed u.r. "Altenkirch". Verso on the stretcher top right signed again "Otto Altenkirch" and place inscribed "Dresden" (partly covered by canvas). Framed in a profiled gold-coloured wooden moulding. WVZ Petrasch 1904-26-K. Picture backing on the right side of the cover with a small hole, o. small nail hole, where the canvas was fixed afterwards, verso somewhat foxed. Painting layer partly with craquelure, light climatic edge r. marginal areas somewhat rubbed, not visible in framed condition. Dimensions: 67 x 85 cm, cm. 75,5 x 95,5. Otto Altenkirch 1875 Ziesar - 1945 Siebenlehn From 1889 four-year apprenticeship as a decorative painter in Berlin. From 1898 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, from 1900 with Eugen Bracht. In 1902 Altenkirch moved to the Dresden Art Academy together with Bracht, first exhibitions followed. 1906 graduated with distinction and worked as a freelance artist. Joined the artists' group "Die Elbier" and was a member of the Dresden Artists' Association in 1910. From 1910 leading court theatre painter at the Royal Saxon Court Theatres. 1917 professor title. 1920 moves to Siebenlehn and works as a freelance painter. Altenkirch's works are represented in the Dresden State Art Collections, among others.
