Published by F. Bruckmann KG, Munich.
Original edition in cloth binding and with color illustrated dust jackets.
The Munich painters of the 19th century are listed in alphabetical order in volumes 1 to 4. Volumes 5 and 6, published in 1993 and 1994, are devoted to Munich painters at the beginning of the 20th century. The encyclopedia was created as a joint work by a team of 20 authors under the main authorship of the Munich art historian Horst Ludwig.
On 2724 pages, the encyclopedia presents more than 1800 Munich painters of the 19th and early 20th centuries, making it the most comprehensive reference work of its kind. The artists are presented with their curriculum vitae, stylistic classification and signature. More than 3500 illustrations, some in color, show examples of characteristic paintings by the artists. The individual contributions are rounded off by a selection of works from public and private collections as well as further references.
The dust jackets partly minimally rubbed, as well as slightly creased and scratched.
Dimensions: volume approx. 27.3 x 24.5 x 4.3 cm each.
