Meta Plückebaum, Three kittens. Probably late 19th century. Meta Plückebaum1876 Dortmund - 1945 Düsseldorf. Oil on painting cardboard. Signed u.r. "Meta Plückebaum". Verso numbered "II" on the upper left and with an old label "Max Sinz. Kunsthandlung Dresden" and u.l. with an old label of the picture carrier "Original Dr. Schoenfelds Malkarton [... ]". Framed in a gold-coloured ornamented decorative moulding. Painting layer slightly soiled with inconspicuous craquelure. The marginal areas with traces of pressure and slight abrasion due to the frame. Corners slightly bumped. Dimensions: 20 x 30 cm, overall 27 x 37,4 cm. Meta Plückebaum 1876 Dortmund - 1945 Düsseldorf Private art lessons with the painter Hermann Emil Pohle in Düsseldorf. Member of the Verein Düsseldorfer Künstlerinnen founded in 1911. Afterwards stays in Munich, moves in Schwabing art circles, meets the genre painter and etcher Carl Plückebaum there. Marriage, joint studio in Bismarckstraße in Düsseldorf, membership of the artists' association Malkasten. Plückebaum painted, drew and etched mainly lovely cat, puppy and flower motifs, with which she became very successful and which led to commissions to illustrate children's books. At the Great German Art Exhibition in the House of German Art in Munich, her painting "Summer Flowers" was exhibited.
