Contemp. calf over wood (some def.), spine with 5 raised bands (head & tail def.). Good copy. Very rare atlas published in monthly instalments, with the general title "1702". This first volume contains 4 parts (for the years 1701-1704; a 2nd vol. was publ. for the years 1705-1706) and is illustrated with 24 folding engraved maps by D. de la Feuille (1640-1709), showing countries, regions, fortification and military plans, i.a. in part 1: world map, map of the 17 Provinces, Duchy of Milan, "De vier Ambachten"; part 2: Bishopric of Liège, Duchy of Guelders, "Le Comté de Hollande" (partly hand-col.); part 3: Languedoc, Bonn, Marquisate of Antwerp (2x), citadel of Huy; part 4: Spain, Portugal, the naval Battle of Malaga (24/08/1704), Bavaria. Part 3 with separate title dated 1705 and mention "Troisième partie. Pour l'année 1703. Seconde édition". The text is a hodgepodge of official documents (declarations, edicts, manifest speeches), reports of famous battles and explications by the author. Ref.
